FALL 2005 @ ITP

User-Driven Glossary Page

Group project with Sonali Sridha, for "Thinking about Networks" by Clay Shirky.

Description >>

Our network is design to help students' search on Tom Igoe's Pcomp website easier. Why do so many ITP students buy the Physical Computing Book even though his website is more comprehensive? There are varieties of reasons, but the assumption is convenience; the narrative nature of the book allows for the reader to feel comfortable in the story of chapters and the ease of the index. Our idea is combining great aspects of the website and book without asking Tom for extra work. By adding tags to Pcomp site by students, we would like to create self-generated index. For first step, we are using del.icio.us to add those tags, but as a future plan we are thinking to have a new interface. For more detail, check the project website.

itpMOO

Description >>

"itpMOO" is a kind of virtual reality, in which players move about from place to place manipulating their environment in what we hope are amusing, entertaining, or enlightening ways. itpmoo is more of a pastime than a game in the usual sense; there is no `score' kept, there are no specific goals to attain in general, and there's no competition involved. itpmoo participants explore the virtual world, talk to the other participants, try out the weird gadgets that others have built, and create new places and things for others to encounter and enjoy.
